Strategic Growth & Infrastructure

As Centennial grows, thoughtful and strategic infrastructure development is key to maintaining its livability and vibrancy. Mayor Stephanie Piko’s leadership has focused on long-term, sustainable growth that accommodates new businesses, residents, and recreational opportunities. From transportation and digital infrastructure improvements to economic development and urban redevelopment, Mayor Piko’s administration is setting Centennial up for future success with a clear, data-driven strategy.

Modernizing Transportation Infrastructure for Connectivity

Under Mayor Piko’s leadership, Centennial has made significant investments in transportation infrastructure. One of her key accomplishments was overseeing the completion of the Arapahoe Bridge project—a replacement of a 75-year-old bridge that now incorporates sidewalks and improved pedestrian access to the Dry Creek Trail, making it easier for residents to navigate and connect with nearby areas. The bridge now also features community art, enhancing the area’s visual appeal.

Additionally, Mayor Piko led the development of an advanced Traffic Operations Center that has transformed the city's traffic management capabilities. By connecting all traffic signals across Centennial, the city now has the ability to monitor traffic flow in real time and use data-driven analytics to optimize traffic patterns. This system has made a significant impact on reducing congestion and improving overall traffic management across Centennial.

Promoting Cross-Jurisdictional Collaboration for Regional Growth

Recognizing the importance of regional cooperation, Mayor Piko has been instrumental in creating cross-jurisdictional partnerships that improve Centennial’s infrastructure and regional connectivity.

A key accomplishment is the regional traffic partnership with Lone Tree and Greenwood Village, which led to the development of an integrated traffic monitoring system along the corridor.

This collaboration has enhanced traffic throughput, improved efficiency, and demonstrated the power of inter-city cooperation in driving infrastructure progress.

Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for the Future

In addition to physical infrastructure, Mayor Piko has worked to enhance Centennial’s digital infrastructure, ensuring the city is equipped for future technological advancements. Under her leadership, the city improved its fiber infrastructure and developed FiberWorks, connecting municipal systems for better communication and streamlined information sharing between departments. These improvements have created a resilient digital communication network that supports the city's growing needs and ensures smooth operations across city services.

Economic and Urban Development for Sustainable Growth

Mayor Piko’s approach to economic development infrastructure has been focused on creating strategic investment opportunities that balance economic growth with community needs. One of her most notable initiatives is the development of Midtown Centennial an 800 acre transformative redevelopment project along the I-25 corridor. This project is aimed at creating a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use district centered around key assets like the Dry Creek Light Rail Station and I-25 corridor. With a focus on connectivity, sustainability, and vibrant community spaces, this initiative responds to shifting market trends and offers a unique opportunity to revitalize aging commercial areas into a dynamic urban hub that serves both residents and businesses. Through zoning modifications and incentive packages, she has helped revitalize the area, creating a thriving economic hub that attracts new businesses while also benefiting the community.

Mayor Piko has also supported the redevelopment of underutilized spaces, creating opportunities for new community developments and business growth. By emphasizing sustainable urban growth and strategic investment, she has laid the groundwork for Centennial to grow in a way that is both economically prosperous and mindful of its community values.
